How I Get All My Content To Rank on Google

All The Tools and Techniques

Unlock the Secrets to Creating Great Content that Google Loves and Ranks 🚀

Hi all you beautiful SEO-focused entrepreneurs out there,

Are you tired of creating content that doesn't seem to rank on Google?

Want to know the key to creating content that both Google and your audience will love?

Look no further! In this newsletter, we'll guide you through the process of creating outstanding content that Google will adore and rank higher on search results.

I don’t know about you guys, but I am tired of writing and writing and hoping and hoping — writing content that I think will rank and hoping Google thinks the same thing. But this is the problem — I am writing what I want to write.

What I have to do (and what you have to do if you want to rank) is write what Google wants to hear.

I know that sounds terrible and not what writing is all about, but if you want to write what you want to write about, write a book or a personal blog. Just don’t expect people to flock to it.

We must write what SERPs want to hear to succeed in business and SEO. Unfortunately, we gotta play by their rules.

So how do we write content that ranks?

Let’s dive in and find out.

Writing One Article Won’t Do… You Have To Build Out A System

If you want to write content that Google loves and ranks, you must establish yourself as an authority. To do that, you need to do the following.

🔍 Research Your Topic Thoroughly

Before you begin writing, it's crucial to research your topic extensively. Use Google's Keyword Planner, Answer the Public, Ahrefs (my personal favourite) or other keyword research tools to find relevant keywords and phrases that users are searching for in your niche. Look for questions that your audience wants answers to and aim to provide comprehensive solutions.

When you have a question that people will type into their search bar, most often related to your business niche, you can start with a broad “hub” article. Then you can write more “spoke” articles and build up links between them (see more about link-building later). For example, if your business is setting B2B cold calling, you might want to start with a blog titled “The Ultimate Guide To B2B Cold Calling.” Ultimate Guides or Everything You Need To Know articles are great hub articles to start with.

đź“ť Write Engaging, High-Quality Content

Quality trumps quantity when it comes to content. Focus on providing value to your readers by offering actionable insights, tips, and information. Write conversationally, use clear and concise language, and avoid jargon. Break up your content with headings, bullet points, and images to make it easily digestible.

Many people, myself included, use AI writing tools to speed up the writing process (after all, you’ll need to write dozens of articles to prove to Google that you are an authority on your topic or niche. However, be careful not to simply copy and paste whatever AI tools feed you. Your best bet is to use AI writing tools for the bulk of your content and then go through it yourself and add a human touch.

Write about personal experiences, add opinions, find and add relevant statistics and link to it, insert images, and generally give it a non-machine feel so that when the customer reads it, it doesn’t sound like it's a Wikipedia page of information.

Google and other search engine algorithms are predicated on giving people the best information for the question they type into the search bar. Go one or two steps above AI-written content, and you will be rewarded.

AI writing tools are improving at writing quality content and will continue to do so (at an alarmingly fast rate, in my opinion). Check out ChatGPT4 or Zimmwriter. They are two of my personal favourites.

đź”— Build Relevant Links

Google values content with high-quality links. Reach out to influencers and experts in your industry and request a link back to your content. Don't forget to link to relevant, authoritative sources within your content.

Linking to other websites in your content is one thing (very easy), but getting your links on other websites citing you as an authority is quite another.

This is where the rubber meets the road — where we separate the wannabes from the players.

Link-building is one of the most important factors when ranking your content. I didn’t know this when I first entered this business, but it’s probably my main focus now.

Ahrefs is a fantastic resource for link-building. You’ll want to find websites that are in your industry that you can get link exchanges with to boost your credibility. Ahrefs tells you the domain rating (DR) of every website on the internet. Look for websites with DRs over 50 (the higher, the better) to get link exchanges with.

Ask them to get your website’s content on their content (you may have to write blogs for them and link to your own content). The more high DR links you have pointing at your website and content, the more Google recognizes you as an authority.

If you don’t know how to properly link-build and want to learn (or have me do it for you), message me, and we’ll talk. It’s essential you get this part right if you want to have your content rank higher.

🚦 Optimize for SEO

Other than link-building, keywords are the most essential way to “talk” to Google and tell them that your content is awesome and they should rank it.

To make your content more appealing to Google, optimize it for SEO. Include relevant keywords in your title, meta description, headers, and throughout the body of the content. Use tools like Yoast SEO, SurferSEO, NeurON, or Rank Math to optimize your content for search engines.

I love SurferSEO and NeurON (basically a cheaper version of Surfer). Surfer gives you a detailed map of what keywords to use and how often to use them in your blogs.

Check out my other newsletter on using Surfer and NeurON.

📱 Make Your Content Mobile-Friendly

With more than half of internet users accessing the web via mobile devices, making your content mobile-friendly is essential. Use responsive design to ensure your content looks great on any screen size, and optimize images to reduce load times.

The more people that you can make your content available to, the more Google likes you.

🔄 Update and Repurpose Old Content

Keep your content fresh by updating outdated information, fixing broken links, and adding new insights. To reach a wider audience, you can also repurpose old content into new formats, such as infographics, videos, or podcasts.

Ahrefs (or another SEO tool) is a great tool for this. It will tell you if you have broken links or not and where to fix them. Plus, Google likes new content. Go into your older posts and update them every once in a while. You will most likely see a boost in traffic because, as I said, Google loves giving people what they’re looking for, which is most likely the most up-to-date information.

This can be challenging in this day and age of constantly new and updated info. But if you want to rank your content higher, this is what you have to do.
